Book Donations

There are two ways of donating your books to READ International:

National Donation Days

READ International accepts books from anyone, provided you can bring your books to us. In 2011/12 we will be running four National Donation Days across a number of our Storage sites. The first Donation Day will be held on Thursday 1 March from 10am to 6pm. Click here to see a list of Donation Sites. Please ensure your donation meets the following criteria:

1.All books must be of good, reusable quality and less than 10 years old

2.Donations must be boxed in boxes that are easy to lift by one person and taped up.

3.No magazines, journals, video tapes or cassettes, ring binder folders or used stationary will be accepted

4.Unused stationary, paper, exercise books and pens will be accepted as well as complete scientific material in full working order

Book Collections - register NOW!

READ International offers a book collection service to schools and colleges in England, Scotland and Wales. As with most other charities, READ is finding it harder to raise the funds to cover UK book collection costs. As such, this year we require a £50 donation to cover the cost of a book collection from your school. In return, you will receive a professional and reliable service, and a guaranteed collection date.

In order to qualify for a collection, you must meet the following criteria:

1.Be a school or college in England, Scotland or Wales
2.Have equal to, or more than, 500 books
3.All books must be of good, reusable quality and less than 10 years old
4.Be within close proximity to one of our university Book Projects

Where possible, at least 75% of the donation should consist of those books most in demand in East Africa:

Science (general and separate)
Maths (including statistics and mechanics etc.)
English language
Class readers (teenage fiction and world classics)
Physical Geography
Library reference books

COLLECTIONS WILL BE SCHEDULED FOR THE SPRING TERM.
