Medical Book Drives
Accessing healthcare if something we can take for granted here in the UK. We have access to innumerable medical books, journals and cutting edge research information; however, tens of thousands of people die every day from diseases that are readily preventable and treatable.
The donation of medical textbooks is an easy and effective way to help promote health education and autonomy in resource limited settings.
The Book Drive
As part of a pioneering new project to address this issue READ International together with The Laura Case Trust and MedSin are running a medical textbook drive! We are looking to collect medical textbooks from a specific list created with the input from the dean of the medical school and medical students in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The books will be distributed using READ Internationals network to medical schools in Tanzania whose curriculum is taught in English.
To find out if your books are suitable please download the guidelines by following the link below. Generally speaking We are looking for books that are no more than 5 years old and in reasonably good condition.
If your book isn't on the list - we still want it because we can sell it online to generate revenue to pay for the shipping of the books which are.
So if you have any books from our list that you no longer need, or if your medical school and hospital libraries are clearing and renewing their stock please get involved, contact us and donate your, or your library's books to this fantastic and worthwhile cause.
The success of this project depends entirely on your help and support so please get involved, get in touch and good luck!
