Lindi

August 2006: Building on the success of 2005 another team of Nottingham volunteers delivered 25,000 textbooks to 20 schools in the Lindi region. They also delivered dictionaries and sports equipment to each school and a number of boxes of books to the regional library.

August 2008: Birmingham University volunteers returned and delivered books to a further 20 schools, several teacher training colleges and resource centres, and again to the regional library.

Lindi Region as a whole covers 66,000km², the same size as the Republic of Ireland! Much of the Western side of the region is part of the Selous game reserve. The region was once an important sisal-producing plantation area.
