This year READ launched its new national campaign, a week long drive urging students and university staff members to donate any unwanted books along with 50p to send them. Run in conjunction with Student Volunteering Week,
With weeks of preparation our fantastic volunteers did it all, from the not so exciting tasks of booking stalls, and advertising the event, to the entertainment of fancy dress money collections across campus and attempting to move many overflowing boxes of books! And amongst all the fun, and organising there were also the more glamorous responsibilities of meetings with MP’s and journalists, giving our volunteers the recognition that they deserve.
BBBD was a fantastic week, made all the more memorable thanks to our volunteers, who have most certainly done us proud! Each project did a formidable job at reaching their targets, bring us even closer to the 300,000 textbooks we intend to send to
Massive congratulations go to Warwick Book Project for going above and beyond their target by raising £1,558.30, followed closely by Kent Book Project who raised £1,457.37!
It was a long week, but a successful one, and everyone involved should be proud of their achievements.
It costs us just 50p to send a book to Tanzania. See how far your 50p can go.
